Crossing the Atlantic: Talking about tomorrow’s mobility

January 26 was a milestone day for the Innovative Vehicle Institute (IVI) and the Cégep de Saint-Jérôme: we had the privilege of hosting a delegation from France’s Campus des métiers et qualifications (CMQ), orchestrated by the Fédération des cégeps.

Bringing together experts from education, industry and politics, the delegation had the opportunity to explore the development of skills in the sustainable transport industry in Quebec, and strategies to ensure the future of this field and mobility.

Transatlantic synergy for tomorrow’s mobility

How can we best prepare the future players in sustainable mobility? What key skills do we need to transfer to maintain our synergy with a constantly evolving industry?

The meeting with our French guests was not just a cross-cultural exchange, but a true fusion of ideas and visions. Together, we explored the challenges and opportunities facing the sustainable transport industry, with a particular focus on skills development and the training of a qualified workforce.

At the heart of our discussions was the importance of ensuring perfect synergy between academic training and industrial imperatives. It is by closely aligning our programs with the real needs of the field that we inspire and train tomorrow’s leading players.

This is why our teaching methods and the relationship between the Cégeps and their CCTTs have been recognized as a model of integration and practical application.

And that’s exactly what we do at IVI: we actively integrate interns and teachers into cutting-edge projects, enhancing their expertise and ability to meet the growing needs of industry.

The visit of the CMQ delegation could mark the beginnings of international thinking in terms of innovation, training and learning to promote acceptance of emerging technologies on a wider scale.

Together, we are moving towards a future in which mobility is not only sustainable, but also the fruit of visionary collaborative work.
These discussions demonstrate that the future of transportation is not built in isolation, but by working hand in hand, transcending borders and oceans.
