History

The Innovative Vehicle Institute was founded in 2015 following the merger of the Centre national du transport avancé (CNTA) and the Institut du transport avancé du Québec (ITAQ). As a result, we have more than 20 years of experience in transportation electrification and the development of technological solutions.

Winner of the Prix Génie Innovation 2016 for the development of an electric school bus, we have worked over the past 5 years with more than 120 companies, organizations, and partners.

In 2019, we received an investment of $12.7 million from the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation to begin construction of our new building. With this new building, the IVI is becoming an unique innovation center in Quebec and Canada.
