Postdoc Position in Electrical Engineering (Fully Funded) Fuel Cell Technology for Class 8 trucks
Job description
The Hydrogen Research Institute (HRI) at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (UQTR), in collaboration with the Innovative vehicle institute (IVI), is offering a postdoc position in the development of a hybrid multi-source powertrain system and advanced energy management strategies for heavy-duty vehicles.
Specifically, the postdoc will:
- Develop a sizing tool to optimize the configuration of energy sources, including multi-stack fuel cells and batteries, to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs while ensuring vehicle performance.
- Develop energy management algorithms to optimize power distribution among fuel cells, batteries, and other components for real-world driving cycles.
The selected candidate will collaborate closely with an integrated research team of the IRH and also the IVI, to deliver impactful solutions for sustainable heavy-duty transportation.
Skills and Training Required
- PhD in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Expertise in optimization, power distribution, control theory, and machine learning.
- In-depth knowledge of fuel cells and batteries, including modeling and parameter estimation, along with familiarity with simulation tools such as Simulink and Amesim.
- Experience in energy management design and sizing for hybrid vehicles is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming languages (MATLAB and Python).
- Familiarity with electrical instrumentation, microcontrollers, DC-DC converters, and National Instrument systems (e.g., CompactDAQ, CompactRIO).
- Strong commitment, autonomy, creativity, and excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Skilled at writing scientific journal articles.
Application
Interested candidates should submit the following:
- A motivation letter.
- A curriculum vitae including a list of publications.
Applications should be sent via email to: Prof. Mohsen Kandidayeni (mohsen.kandi.dayeni@uqtr.ca)
